Natural disasters do not only damage the standing crops in the fields, but they also deal a severe blow to the years of hard work of farmers, the livelihood of their families, and their hopes for the future. Many villages in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh struggled with the serious problem of waterlogging for years. In some places, thousands of bighas of agricultural land turned into marshland, while in others, farming almost came to an end because water remained accumulated in the fields for three to four decades. The very fields that once supported entire families forced farmers to buy food grains from the market. Despite numerous efforts and appeals at the government level, when no permanent solution was found, the hopes of the farmers began to fade, and the entire agricultural cycle started getting affected.

During such difficult times, the Annpurna Muhim, operated under the guidance of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, emerged as a new source of hope for farmers. According to the requirements of the villages, motors, tractor coupling sets, pipelines, engines, diesel, and other necessary equipment were provided. The objective of this assistance was not only to remove water from the fields but also to protect the livelihood of farmers and help them become self-reliant once again.
When Waterlogging Brought Farmers’ Lives to a Standstill
Continuous waterlogging had completely affected the agricultural system of these villages. For many years, crops could not be cultivated in the fields, a fodder crisis developed for livestock, and the financial condition of the farmers continued to weaken. Many families faced a livelihood crisis, while the sowing of the next crop also came under threat.
The greatest concern of the farmers was that if the water was not removed in time, not only one crop but farming in the coming years would also be affected. The villagers repeatedly requested assistance from the administration and public representatives, but when no concrete solution was found, they prayed to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj for assistance.
When the Villagers Placed Their Hope in Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj
After repeated unsuccessful efforts, the Gram Panchayats and farmers presented their problem before Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. They explained the condition of the waterlogged land, the damage to crops, and the financial hardships faced by the farmers while requesting assistance for removing water from the fields.
Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj immediately understood the requirements of each village with great seriousness and instructed that surveys and relief arrangements be carried out. Within a short period, the necessary resources were delivered to the villages. According to the farmers, they had never expected to receive such prompt and well-organized assistance. This was the moment when new hope emerged in the midst of despair.
Lakhan (Deeg, Rajasthan): Farming Returned Once Again on 3,000 Bighas of Waterlogged Land
Lakhan Gram Panchayat, located in Kumher Tehsil of Deeg district, Rajasthan, was struggling with the serious problem of waterlogging after continuous rainfall. Approximately 3,000 bighas of agricultural land belonging to the Panchayat had been submerged under floodwater. Several feet of water had accumulated in the fields, and the farmers feared that if the water was not removed in time, wheat sowing would be completely affected.
The farmers repeatedly sought assistance from the administration, but no effective solution was found. Gradually, the hopes of the villagers began to fade. Finally, the Gram Panchayat prayed to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj for assistance.
Assistance Provided According to the Village’s Requirement
Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj immediately provided relief to the village. Lakhan village received—
- Two powerful tractor coupling sets
- Complete diesel arrangement required for operating the tractors
The most significant aspect was that the farmers did not have to spend even a single rupee from their own pockets for this entire arrangement.
Day-and-Night Water Drainage Campaign Continued
After receiving the relief material, the villagers collectively began the work of water drainage. The tractor coupling sets were operated continuously for several days to remove water from the fields. The people of the village also fully supported this work because they knew that it was an effort to save not only the crop but also the future of the entire village.
Gradually, the water began to recede from the fields, and the land that had turned into marshland only a short time earlier once again became suitable for cultivation. Without any delay, the farmers began sowing wheat.
Greenery and Farmers’ Confidence Returned
A few months later, the picture of the village had changed completely. Where water had earlier stood three to four feet deep, lush green wheat crops were now flourishing. Farmers could once again be seen irrigating their fields and taking care of their crops.
The villagers stated that the very land from which they had not expected even a single grain to grow during the year was now producing a full crop. According to the farmers, cultivation had resumed once again across almost the entire affected area of approximately 3,000 bighas.
Farmer Baljeet, along with many other villagers, stated that the timely assistance had not only removed the water from the fields but had also revived the broken confidence of the farmers.
Nagla Kundan (Deeg, Rajasthan): A Major Initiative Towards Solving a 30-Year-Old Waterlogging Problem
Nagla Kundan Gram Panchayat, located in Kama Tehsil of Deeg district, Rajasthan, had been struggling with the problem of waterlogging for approximately 30 years. Every year after the rainy season, water accumulated in the fields and remained there for months without proper drainage. Approximately 500 to 600 bighas of agricultural land were continuously affected. Many families had not seen crops growing on their own land for years.
When the Gram Panchayat requested assistance from Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, the condition of the village was carefully assessed. During the first phase, pipelines, motors, and two coupling sets were provided. With the help of these resources, the farmers started removing water from the fields on a large scale for the first time and succeeded in eliminating waterlogging from nearly 90 percent of the affected area.
Assistance Was Increased According to the Requirement
Since the affected area was extensive, the Panchayat requested additional assistance. The villagers informed that two 25 HP engines were required so that dependence on tractors could be reduced and the water drainage system could become more permanent.
On the instructions of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, a detailed survey of the village was conducted. During the inspection, it was found that the resources provided during the first phase were being used effectively and that most of the pipeline had already been laid. After the survey report was submitted, additional assistance was immediately approved.
New Engines and Necessary Equipment Were Provided
During the second phase, the village received—
- Two new 26 HP Eicher engines
- Starters
- Tool kit
- Silencers
- Necessary fittings
- All other required equipment
The villagers had initially requested second-hand engines, but during the inspection, new engines were found to be more suitable. Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj decided to provide new engines without any delay.
In addition, during the first phase, the complete cost of diesel and generator arrangements was also borne by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, ensuring that the farmers did not have to bear any financial burden.
Farming Returned to the Fields After Many Years
The villagers stated that where only water could be seen in every direction earlier, crops were now flourishing in the fields. After nearly three decades, the farmers of the village witnessed successful cultivation on their own land. The Panchayat also informed that the additional pipes had been safely preserved after use so that they could be immediately utilized if waterlogging occurred again in the future.
Today, the returning greenery in Nagla Kundan stands as proof that timely support, well-planned execution, and collective effort can become an effective solution even to a decades-old problem.
Nagla Asha (Mathura, Uttar Pradesh): Relief After Seven Years of Waterlogging as Farming Returned to 500 Bighas of Land
Nagla Asha village, located in Govardhan Tehsil of Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, struggled with the severe problem of waterlogging for nearly seven years. Approximately 500 bighas of agricultural land remained submerged under two to five feet of water, due to which farming had almost come to a standstill. Every year, the hard work of the farmers was washed away, a fodder crisis arose for livestock, and the financial condition of the families continued to deteriorate.
The villagers repeatedly requested assistance from the administration and the concerned authorities, but no permanent solution could be found. Finally, the Gram Panchayat submitted a request for assistance to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj.
Assistance Provided According to the Village’s Requirement
Under Annpurna Muhim, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj immediately arranged relief material for Nagla Asha village.
The major resources provided to the village were—
- 3,000 feet of 8-inch pipeline
- Two powerful 15 HP motors
- Approximately 1,640 feet of aluminum wire
- Starters
- Cables
- Fittings
- Nuts and bolts
- All other necessary equipment
The entire material was provided together so that the Gram Panchayat would not have to incur any additional expense or depend upon the market.
Successful Farming Across the Entire Land After Many Years
After receiving the relief material, the villagers collectively started the water drainage campaign. The motors were operated continuously to remove water from the fields. For the first time in years, cultivation began across the entire area where only waterlogging had previously existed.
According to the villagers, successful sowing was carried out on almost the entire 500 bighas of land, and within a short time, green wheat crops began flourishing in the fields. The farmers estimated that the agricultural production this season would bring significant improvement to the economic condition of the village.
Farmers Regained Their Confidence
The village representatives and farmers stated that earlier, a large portion of the land remained uncultivated every year, but this time, for the first time, almost the entire area became suitable for farming. After many years, they could finally see the reward for their hard work.
According to the villagers, earlier even children’s education and fodder arrangements for livestock were affected, but now the returning greenery in the fields has transformed the atmosphere of the entire village. Farmers are once again taking care of their crops and are enthusiastic about the good harvest that lies ahead.
Lohagarh (Deeg, Rajasthan): Relief from Waterlogging After 40 Years as Greenery Returned to the Fields
Lohagarh village, located in Kama Tehsil of Deeg district, Rajasthan, had been suffering from the problem of waterlogging for nearly 40 years. After every rainy season, water accumulated in the fields and remained there for months without proper drainage. A major portion of approximately 900 bighas of agricultural land was affected every year. Instead of crops, reeds had started growing in the fields, and the farmers had gradually begun to consider their land barren.
After searching for a solution for years, the Gram Panchayat submitted a request for assistance to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj.
Resources Provided Immediately
Keeping in view the requirement of the village, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj provided the following under Annpurna Muhim—
- Two powerful 20 HP motors
- Approximately 200 feet of flexible pipe
- Necessary fittings and other equipment
However, the assistance was not limited only to the machines. In order to operate these motors continuously, the complete cost of diesel and generator arrangements for approximately one and a half months was borne by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, ensuring that the farmers did not have to bear any financial burden.
Water Removed from 90 Percent of the Area
As a result of the continuous water drainage campaign, water was removed from nearly 90 percent of the village area. For the first time in years, large-scale wheat sowing became possible in the waterlogged fields.
According to the Gram Panchayat, cultivation could not be carried out on approximately 10 percent of the land this season because of continuous seepage from the canal and the late commencement of the work. However, successful crops were produced on the remaining majority of the land.
Arrangements Made for the Future
The villagers stated that the motors, pipes, and other equipment provided have now become the permanent property of the village. If waterlogging occurs again in the future, these same resources will be used to remove the water in time.
After nearly four decades, the returning greenery in the fields has given the farmers not only crops but also renewed confidence in the future.

A Positive Change Came into the Lives of Farmers
The circumstances in all four villages were different, but the suffering of the farmers was the same. In one village, cultivation had stopped for two years; in another, the fields remained waterlogged for seven years; elsewhere, waterlogging had affected the livelihood of farmers for three decades, and in another village for four decades. The resources provided in time accelerated the process of water drainage in these villages and played a significant role in making thousands of bighas of land suitable for cultivation once again.
As a result of these efforts, the farmers sowed wheat on time, greenery returned to the fields, and the families received economic relief. Several villages also decided to preserve the resources provided for future use so that similar waterlogging situations could be addressed promptly.
