For decades, the residents of Barhana faced severe waterlogging whenever monsoon rains struck. The village’s three primary ponds – Chali Johad, Keshu Wala Johad, and Barhana Johad – would overflow continuously. Stagnant, dirty water inundated pathways, streets, and entered into residential homes.
- A population of nearly 2,000 to 2,500 people lived under constant disruption and health hazards.
- Waterlogging created breeding grounds for mosquitoes and disease, while poisonous snakes frequently entered submerged homes.
