SHARE

Nangla Dadu village, located in the Kama tehsil of Deeg district, Rajasthan, had been struggling with a severe waterlogging problem for nearly 70 years, according to local residents. The prolonged accumulation of water had severely affected agriculture and everyday life in the village. Hundreds of bighas of agricultural land remained submerged for long periods, crops were repeatedly damaged, and several families were forced to leave the village in search of better livelihood opportunities.

According to the villagers, their request for assistance eventually reached Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. Following the request, assistance for water drainage was provided in several stages. Initially, approximately 13,000 feet of pipeline, two large motors, and tractor-operated pump equipment were provided. This helped drain water from the affected agricultural land, and after many years, farmers were once again able to cultivate their fields.

However, some areas of the village continued to face waterlogging. To address the remaining problem, an additional 4,800 feet of pipeline and two 5 HP motors were provided. Another challenge then emerged. The village did not have an adequate electricity supply to operate the motors continuously. The local transformer was already under significant load, making it difficult to operate the 5 HP motors effectively.

To address this issue, a 10-kilowatt solar power system and a 5 HP DC motor were subsequently provided for the village. A technical team also reached Nangla Dadu to install the solar system and test the motor. The successful trial has given villagers renewed hope that water can now be drained more effectively and that their agricultural land can remain suitable for cultivation.

A Village Struggling With Waterlogging for Seven Decades

The residents of Nangla Dadu say that the waterlogging problem is not a recent development. According to elderly villagers, the problem has continued for several decades, severely affecting agricultural activities.

One resident explained that a large portion of the village’s agricultural land remained under water for years. Because crops could not be grown successfully, farming families faced serious financial difficulties. The problem also affected the social life of the village. According to villagers, several families eventually migrated to other places because they could no longer depend on agriculture for their livelihood.

A woman resident recalled that children also had to be closely supervised because of the water accumulated around the village. She said that families constantly feared that children might accidentally fall into the water. For the villagers, the problem was therefore much more than a farming issue. It affected their livelihoods, children’s education, family security and the future of the entire village.

The First Major Assistance: 13,000 Feet of Pipeline and Large Motors

According to the villagers, the first major assistance for Nangla Dadu included approximately 13,000 feet of 8-inch pipeline, two large motors and tractor-operated coupling equipment. The purpose was to drain accumulated water from the fields and direct it towards the designated drainage route.

The villagers say that after the pipeline and motors were provided, water began to recede from several affected areas. For the first time in many years, farmers were able to see the possibility of cultivating their land again.

One village representative recalled that wheat was successfully cultivated in some fields after the water was removed. For the farmers, seeing crops grow again after decades was an emotional moment. However, the entire problem had not yet been resolved. Some areas still remained affected by waterlogging.

Additional 4,800 Feet of Pipeline and Two 5 HP Motors

After the initial water drainage work, the villagers requested assistance for the remaining affected areas. According to the villagers, an additional 4,800 feet of 8-inch pipeline and two 5 HP motors were subsequently provided.

This helped extend the water drainage system to areas that were still affected. As the water level declined, farmers began preparing their land for cultivation once again. Village representative Vinod Kumar said that farming had once seemed almost impossible because of the persistent waterlogging. With the drainage arrangements, however, villagers began regaining confidence in their agricultural land.

According to the villagers, crops such as paddy, millet and sorghum are now being cultivated in different parts of the village.

Electricity Shortage Became the Next Major Challenge

Although the pipeline and motors helped with water drainage, another problem soon became apparent: inadequate electricity supply. According to the villagers, the village transformer already carried the load of the entire village. As a result, the 5 HP motors could not operate at their required capacity.

One resident explained that even when electricity was available, the motors could not function efficiently. Since continuous pumping was necessary to remove accumulated water, the lack of sufficient electricity became a major obstacle. For some time, tractor-operated pumps and diesel were used to continue the drainage work. Villagers said that diesel assistance also helped them continue removing water from the affected areas. However, the villagers wanted a more sustainable solution that would reduce their dependence on irregular electricity supply and diesel. This led to the requirement for a solar-powered pumping system.

A 10-Kilowatt Solar System Provides a New Solution

According to the villagers, when they again approached Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj regarding the electricity problem, arrangements were made for a 10-kilowatt solar system and a 5 HP DC motor.

The villagers say that the necessary equipment required to operate the motor was also provided. This included the solar controller, assembly components, flexible pipeline, foot valve and other required materials. The assistance did not stop with the delivery of equipment. A technical team also reached Nangla Dadu to install the solar system.

The team prepared the structure, installed the solar panels and connected the system to the motor. The motor was then operated in front of the villagers as part of the trial. When the motor started successfully, the atmosphere in the village became visibly cheerful. For the residents, the functioning of the solar system represented more than the operation of a machine. It represented renewed hope for protecting their agricultural land from recurring waterlogging.

Successful Solar Trial Brings Relief to the Villagers

The successful trial of the solar system has given villagers confidence that the water drainage system can now be operated more consistently.

According to the residents, the solar-powered motor will help pump accumulated water through the existing pipeline system towards the drainage route.

Vinod Kumar said that the village had previously struggled because the available electricity was insufficient to operate the motors properly. With the solar system now in place, the villagers expect the water drainage process to become easier.

Residents say they are now hopeful that their fields will remain suitable for cultivation during the farming season.

One farmer said that earlier people were hesitant to sow crops because they feared that the crops would be destroyed if water accumulated again. The solar-powered system has given them greater confidence.

“Our Abandoned Village Is Coming Back to Life”

The impact of the waterlogging problem extended beyond agriculture. According to villagers, several families had migrated from Nangla Dadu because they could no longer sustain themselves through farming. The decline of agriculture also affected children’s education and family incomes. Many people had to look for work elsewhere. Now, according to residents, some families that had previously migrated are beginning to return. The villagers believe that if farming continues successfully, migration may gradually decrease and economic activity in the village may improve.

A woman resident said that the reduction in waterlogging had also brought relief to families who previously worried about the safety of their children around the accumulated water. For these families, the return of agriculture means more than producing crops. It represents the possibility of stable income, education for children and a more secure future.

Villagers Speak: “We Can Now Hope for Crops in Our Fields”

The happiness among the farmers is particularly visible when they talk about their agricultural land.

One elderly resident, who said he is more than 60 years old, recalled that he had spent much of his life watching the waterlogging problem continue. He explained that farming had been extremely difficult for decades and that families were forced to depend on other sources of income. Today, however, villagers say that they can see crops growing in areas that were once submerged.

One resident expressed the hope that the crops produced from their fields would help families meet household expenses and support their children’s education.

Village representative Vinod Kumar also said that the village has now received assistance in several stages—first for water drainage, then for additional affected areas, and finally for the electricity problem through the solar system.

Villagers Express Gratitude for the Assistance Provided by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj

The villagers expressed their gratitude to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj for the assistance provided to address their waterlogging-related difficulties. According to their accounts, the assistance was not limited to a single intervention. It was provided in stages as different problems emerged.

First, pipelines and motors were provided for water drainage. Additional pipelines and smaller motors were subsequently provided for the remaining affected areas. When electricity became a major obstacle, a solar system and DC motor were arranged.

The villagers described these efforts as a form of service aimed at helping farmers whose agricultural land had remained affected for decades. For the residents of Nangla Dadu, the most significant outcome is the return of cultivation to land that had remained unusable for a long period.

Green Fields Bring a New Picture to Nangla Dadu

Perhaps the clearest sign of change can be seen in the fields. Areas that were once associated with stagnant water are now being cultivated, according to villagers. Paddy, millet, sorghum and other crops have been planted in different fields. For farmers, the return of crops means the return of an important source of livelihood. A crop provides food for the family and income for household expenses, children’s education, seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural requirements. Therefore, for Nangla Dadu, improved water drainage is closely connected with the village’s economic recovery.

From Seven Decades of Waterlogging to the Hope of Cultivation

For nearly 70 years, waterlogging had affected Nangla Dadu’s agricultural land and the lives of its residents, according to the villagers. Families migrated, farming declined and children’s futures were affected. Today, the situation is changing. Water drainage arrangements have been strengthened, agricultural land is being cultivated again, and a 10-kilowatt solar system has successfully powered the pumping system.

The journey began with pipelines and motors and continued with additional equipment, diesel support and finally solar-powered pumping. For the people of Nangla Dadu, the most important change is not the equipment itself. It is the hope that their fields will continue producing crops, their families will have a more stable livelihood and their children will have better opportunities.

After decades of waterlogging, Nangla Dadu is once again looking towards its fields. The water is being pumped out, the solar-powered motor has successfully completed its trial, and the villagers are hoping that the land that once remained submerged will now become a source of food, livelihood and a better future.
