- Maharashtra Helicopter Crash: On the morning of Wednesday, 2nd October 2024, around 7 AM, a helicopter carrying three individuals crashed in the Bavdhan area in Pune, Maharashtra.
- After the crash, the helicopter caught fire and all three individuals, including two pilots and one engineer, died on the spot.
- The helicopter took off from the Oxford Golf Club’s helipad and was heading to Juhu in Mumbai, after flying for approximately 1 km, it crashed.
- It is estimated that due to dense fog in the morning, the helicopter failed to avoid the hills and crashed.
- As per the reports and statements, this helipad is often used by NCP chief Sunil Tatkare.
- Chief Fire Officer Devendra Prabhakar Potphode said that after receiving the information about the incident, we deployed 4 fire vehicles along with 2 rescue vehicles. The team was able to recover bodies of three casualties.
- As per DGP Vishal Gaikwad of Pimpri Chinchwad, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct a detailed investigation to find the exact cause of the incident.
- A similar incident occurred in August, just a few weeks ago near Mumbai, when a private helicopter travelling from Mumbai to Hyderabad crashed near Paud village, injuring four people on board.
