Human DNA or Human Deoxyribonucleic acid is considered as the genetic material of the human body.
Scientists are able to successfully sequence most of the human DNA. Knowledge of the DNA provides the scope of the prevention and treatment of various inborn diseases. Get into the blog for further details of the human DNA.
Human DNA: Key highlights
● Human DNA is the genetic material of the body.
● Human DNA is made up of 3.3 ×10⁹ base pairs (nearly 3 billion base pairs) which are distributed within the 23 chromosomes.
● Human DNA contains information required for the growth, survival, development and reproduction of the human body.
● Scientists successfully sequenced most of the human DNA.
● 99%of the DNA is the same in all humans.
● The Human Genome project provides the scope for further research.
● Knowledge of the DNA provides treatment and prevention of several genetic disorders.

What is Human DNA ?
The genetic material of the human body is the DNA. It contains information for the transfer of characters from the parents to the offspring. Additionally, it contains information required for the growth, survival, development and reproduction of the human body.
Structure of the Human DNA
Double helical model is the most accepted model for the structure of DNA. Double helical model was given by James Watson and Francis Crick in 1953.
According to the double helical structure:
● Human DNA is made up of two polynucleotide chains which are antiparallel in polarity.
● Each polynucleotide chain consists of 3.3× 10⁹ nucleotides (nearly 3 billion nucleotides). Remember the number of polynucleotide sequences is the characteristic of an organism.
● A nucleotide consists of a Deoxyribose sugar, phosphate group and a nitrogenous base (which can be either a purine or pyrimidine).
● The two polynucleotide chains are coiled in a form of helix and each helix has a pitch of 3.4 nm.
● There are 10 nucleotides in each strand of a polynucleotide chain.
● The nitrogenous bases of one chain are connected to that of the other chain by hydrogen bonds.
Human Genetic Disorders
Human Genetic Disorders are the disorders which are genetically transferred from the parents to the offspring. These are inborn disorders (which occur by birth). Most of the genetic disorders are incurable as we do not have any technology which can alter the nucleotides of the human DNA. These types of diseases can only be treated or managed upto certain level. Some of the genetic disorders are down syndrome, thalassemia, tay- sachs disease, sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis etc.
Human Genome Project (HGP)
This Mega Project was started in 1990 by the contribution of many researchers. It was a 13 year mega project which aimed to sequence human DNA. It was completed by 2003 but the details of the human DNA are still waiting to be discovered. The Human Genome Project unveiled the salient features of the Human DNA. HGP provided the knowledge that 99.9% of the DNA is the same in all humans. Only 1% of the variable DNA is the characteristic of every human.
Scope for Further Research
Information of the nucleotide sequences of the human DNA provide scope for further research in the areas of biotechnology, medicine and human welfare. Scientists with the modification of certain non-human genomes (microorganisms including virus, bacteria and other animals) are able to manufacture products for human welfare. With knowledge of the human DNA, there is further possibility for the control of characters in humans and prevention and cure of various inborn disorders.
Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj provides the cure
Although we have come far from the traditional practices of treating humans with manual information. With the use of scientific knowledge and advanced technology, innumerable diseases can be cured easily. Still treatments of a large number of diseases are undiscovered. This indicates that though science is advanced, there is some other supernatural power above all. That supernatural power is Supreme God Kabir Saheb. Kabir Saheb can cure diseases of His devotees and provide them happiness and ultimate salvation.
Currently Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj ji is the incarnation of Kabir Saheb who has descended on this earth to provide happiness to all. By doing satbhakti, lakhs of followers of Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj are getting cured from severe diseases such as cancer, AIDS, down’s syndrome etc. We request the readers to read the sacred book ‘Gyan Ganga’. We also request readers to take spiritual initiation from Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj and do satbhakti to attain happiness and salvation.
