Delhi Rooftop Solar Scheme 2026: The Rooftop Solar Scheme initiated by the Government of Delhi is aiming at encouraging households, residential societies, and commercial establishments to shift towards clean and renewable sources of energy. The scheme operates under the Delhi Solar Energy Policy 2023, which came into force in March 2024 and later on amended in July 2025.
The purpose of the policy is to make solar energy more affordable by providing financial incentives or subsidies thereby reducing dependency on conventional electricity sources.
Delhi Solar Energy Policy 2023: At a Glance
The Delhi Solar Energy Policy 2023 was notified in March 2024 with a goal of increasing rooftop solar capacity to 750 MW within the state and accessing utility scale solar capacity of 3,750 MW from outside the state.
Vision
The vision of Delhi Energy Policy 2023 is to make solar energy more accessible and affordable for the consumers in Delhi by providing incentives, and at the same time creating green jobs in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.
Objectives
- To establish Delhi as a leading state in solar power and reducing its reliance on conventional sources of energy and hence reducing air pollution.
- To minimize electricity prices by adopting solar to meet Delhi’s growing electricity demand.
- To provide access to solar across all consumers of Delhi to save their electricity bills and create avenues for income generation.
What is a Rooftop Solar Scheme?
Under the Delhi Solar Energy Policy 2023, the consumers can install Rooftop Solar Systems on their premises and generate electricity through solar power. The electricity generated can be consumed by the consumers and the surplus can be exported to the electricity grid through net metering.

Can Clean Energy Give Everlasting Freedom?
The Delhi Rooftop Solar Scheme 2026 presents an attractive proposition of subsidies and zero electricity bills to citizens who want to use the sun’s energy to power their homes. But have we ever wondered about the usefulness of such material benefits? Solar panels can brighten our homes and save us money, but can they eliminate the shadows of grief, disease, and death? We use external light, but whose inner self is free from the darkness of spirituality?
Jagatguru Tatvdarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj explains that this mortal world is a temporary shelter, and everything decays and disappears eventually. So while clean energy can provide a short-term reprieve, only true scripture-based worship of Supreme God Kabir can charge your soul with everlasting peace and free you from the cycle of birth and death.
