Agriculture is the primary source of livelihood and pride for the residents of rural Haryana. But for the farmers of Gatauli, a prominent village located in the Julana tehsil of Jind district, their fields had become a symbol of despair. For nearly 35 to 40 years, the village faced a catastrophic problem of severe waterlogging and accumulation of rainwater.
The situation was so dire that an immense expanse of approximately 1,000 acres of fertile agricultural land was continuously submerged. Several farmers painfully recalled that since the year 2002, regular farming had become practically impossible in many areas. Whatever crops they managed to sow would rot in the stagnant water. Landowners who proudly owned 15 acres of land were reduced to financial ruin, forced to buy grain from the market to feed their families and work as daily wage laborers just to survive.
Decades of Government Apathy
The villagers of Gatauli did not accept this disaster silently. Over the last four decades, the Gram Panchayat and local farmers made relentless efforts to seek a solution. They submitted countless applications and memorandums to local politicians, the administration, and successive state governments.
They pleaded for a basic drainage system to save their drowning fields. Unfortunately, they were met with extreme bureaucratic apathy. The farmers stated that despite 40 years of appeals, the government did absolutely nothing. The administrative failure was complete, and the village was left to watch its future rot in muddy water.
The Turnaround: Approaching the True Saint
Driven to absolute desperation, the villagers heard about the massive, state-wide relief efforts being carried out by Tatvdarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. The Gram Panchayat, alongside the villagers, decided to seek refuge under His ongoing “Kisan Mazdoor Bachao Abhiyan” (Save Farmers and Laborers Campaign).
What transpired next shattered all expectations and bureaucratic norms. The village representatives visited the Satlok Ashram and submitted their plea. Within just 1.5 hours of their request, a highly specialized survey team dispatched by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj arrived at Gatauli village!
4000 Feet of Hope and a 20 HP Motor
The survey team meticulously assessed the 1,000-acre waterlogged zone and mapped out the exact drainage routes required. They concluded that a massive infrastructure setup consisting of a 4,000-foot pipeline and a heavy-duty 20 HP motor was necessary for a permanent solution. The report was instantly submitted to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj.
Recognizing the severe distress of the farmers, Gurudev passed an immediate historic order. In merely two days, the village woke up to the arrival of heavy trucks carrying 4,000 feet of high-quality, 8-inch heavy-duty PVC pipes. Furthermore, all accompanying accessories; air valves, adhesives, PVC fittings, nuts, and bolts were provided absolutely free of cost. The 20 HP motor was also sanctioned and will be installed as soon as the pipeline is laid underground.
A Celebration of Rebirth
The arrival of the materials sparked an emotional and grand celebration in Gatauli. Villagers gathered in hundreds outside the village, holding flower garlands to welcome the relief convoy. Tractors were lined up, and the air echoed with chants of gratitude.
In a deeply moving revelation, an elderly villager named Jasbir admitted that years ago, due to misunderstandings, some villagers used to oppose the Ashram. Today, seeing the Saint permanently resolve a 40-year crisis that governments ignored, they are welcoming Him with flower petals. The Gram Panchayat has promised to bury the pipeline within a week, ensuring that the fields of Gatauli will soon bloom with lush green crops once again. Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj has proven that true spirituality lies in selfless service to humanity.
