Highlights on WABetaInfo Reveals New WhatsApp Features in Beta
- The official communication and update agency for WhatsApp, WABetaInfo, has made a series of disclosures about the latest features in testing and development by WhatsApp.
- These features are in the testing phase with both Android and iOs beta WhatsApp users.
- If rolled out, some WhatsApp features can help tackle the biggest eye sore for WhatsApp users – chat storage.
- Additionally, WABetaInfo also revealed testing of creative use features like a sticker pack with improved saving options.
What is WABetaInfo?
If you’ve ever wondered what’s coming next to WhatsApp before it appears for everyone, then you’ve probably encountered WABetaInfo. This independent news portal specialises in tracking and explaining features under development in the beta versions of WhatsApp for Android, iOS and Desktop, making it a trusted source for early insights.
WABetaInfo scans the code of pre-release builds, highlights upcoming roll-outs and helps combat misinformation about WhatsApp updates.

In a series of posts in October 2025, WABetaInfo has revealed the various upcoming features that are currently being tested by WhatsApp.
What’s New in WhatsApp Beta: Four Key Features to Watch
WABetaInfo has released several statements about WhatsApp’s new features currently under testing and available to beta testers. Here are some important features under testing.
Per-Chat Storage Management
One of the most welcomed additions spotted by WABetaInfo is the ability to manage storage on a per-chat basis. Rather than going into global storage settings, users may soon see a ‘Manage Storage’ option within each chat’s info screen, showing exactly how much space that specific conversation is using and enabling the review and deletion of large media files, attachments and documents.
Many users face limited storage, especially on mobile devices. This tool gives finer-grained control of which chats hog space and makes decluttering much easier. It’s still in beta, but a broader rollout could follow soon.
WABetaInfo first announced the test phase of this feature for Android, followed by the announcement for this exact feature for iOs.
Cross-Platform Messaging or Interoperability
Probably one of the most significant forthcoming changes is the planned ability for WhatsApp users to send and receive messages from contacts using other messaging apps (such as those that adopt the required interoperability standard).

WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp is actively developing this feature under the requirements of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Some key points:
- The feature will support basic communications like text, photos, videos and voice messages between WhatsApp and third-party apps.
- It’s still labelled ‘in development’ and subject to regulatory and technical hurdles. Therefore, no firm availability date yet for general users.
- By working on this feature, WhatsApp stated it aims to ease communication ‘by allowing users to stay connected across multiple platforms within WhatsApp’.
If deployed, this could considerably reshape how messaging works, moving away from siloed apps toward a more interconnected ecosystem. For users, it would mean reaching friends on other services without switching apps, though not all advanced functionality (stickers, status updates, etc.) may be supported at launch.
Group Mention ‘@all’ and Related Controls
Another productivity-oriented enhancement found in the beta builds is the ability to mention all members in a group chat with a single tag, for example, by just typing ‘@all’. WABetaInfo captured the feature in the Android beta version 2.25.31.9.
Moreover, subsequent beta builds show that WhatsApp is working on controls to mute ‘everyone mentions’ so that group admins or individual members don’t indiscriminately notify large groups.
For active group chats, especially large ones, these features improve clarity and help avoid important messages being missed or group members being overwhelmed by notifications.
In addition to this feature, WABetaInfo also reports that WhatsApp is currently working on the following features:
- A re-structured and redesigned media section that also covers videos and documents. The improvisation is aimed at making this section more intuitive.
- In an attempt to reduce spam, WhatsApp is also working on a feature that restricts users from sending too many messages if they have not responded to any message in the chat. Their unresponsiveness will be monitored.
Create and Save Stickers Instantly in Personal Collections
Another noteworthy update revealed in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.24.23, as reported by WABetaInfo, introduces a smarter way to manage stickers.
- Users can now create a sticker and save it directly to their personal collection, without having to send it in a chat first.
- Previously, any custom sticker created through WhatsApp’s built-in editor had to be sent to a conversation before it could be stored.
- This new workflow offers a more streamlined and private way to build your sticker library, making it easy to design, save and access personalised stickers whenever you need them.
The update not only improves convenience but also enhances sticker organisation and accessibility. This feature is currently available to some beta testers on Android, with a wider rollout expected soon.
Other Features Revealed by WABetaInfo
Some more announcements made on WABetaInfo’s official website and Twitter handle include:
- WhatsApp non-business users may also be able to use the cover photo option. Currently, only WhatsApp business users can add a cover photo to their profile.
- WhatsApp is also working on a reaction based feature that can allow sticker-based reactions to reels. This is similar to what Instagram offers users when viewing stories.
- Other than these, WhatsApp is also working on a unique feature for reserving usernames. While it has not disclosed all the details yet, the aim is to provide a fair chance to users to take up a username of their choice before it is accessible to all. The new system is being called as ‘Username Reservation’ feature.
How to Join the WhatsApp Beta Program
If you want early access to upcoming features, here is what you can do:
- For iOS: Use Apple’s TestFlight programme. WABetaInfo explains the process of joining the WhatsApp Messenger beta via TestFlight.
- For Android: Join via the Google Play Beta Programme when available for your region. Then update to the latest beta version and watch for feature toggles.
A few things to keep in mind: Beta builds may be unstable, some features may be region-locked, or rolled out gradually to subsets of testers. Always backup your chats before installing betas.
Technology and Spiritual Balance
As technology continues to simplify our digital lives, it cannot, however, guarantee inner peace. True and lasting peace comes from understanding the deeper truths of existence and the eternal goal of the soul.
Jagatguru Tatvdarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj reminds us not to let these conveniences distract us from our spiritual purpose. Just as we organise and manage our digital collections, we must also organise our thoughts and actions in alignment with the True Worship of Supreme God Kabir under the refuge of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, to ensure our advancements are not just external but internal too.
