The assessment is expected to inform the government’s decision on the next steps. If the government decides to reopen the portal, eligible women who have not registered may get another opportunity to submit their applications.
However, the government has not announced an official date for reopening the portal. The application schedule, the process for submitting new applications and the possibility of changes to the eligibility criteria also remain unconfirmed. The minister’s statement has therefore raised the possibility of fresh registrations, but it does not amount to a formal announcement that applications have reopened.

Monthly Assistance and the Scheme’s Financial Allocation
The Ladli Behna Yojana began providing monthly financial assistance in June 2023, when assistance was transferred to approximately 1.25 crore women. By October 14, 2026, the 41st instalment had been paid.
Under the scheme, eligible women receive ₹1,500 per month. The state government has also provided special assistance of ₹250 on four occasions during Raksha Bandhan as a ceremonial gift. The Madhya Pradesh government has allocated ₹23,882.81 crore for the scheme in the financial year 2026–27 to continue providing financial assistance to women.
The possibility of reopening the portal is relevant to women who believe they qualify but have not been enrolled. However, the government’s assessment of excluded women and any subsequent decision on registration remain separate from the instalments already being paid to existing beneficiaries.
Gas Refill Assistance for More Than 23 Lakh Women
Alongside the 41st instalment, the Chief Minister transferred ₹115.10 crore in subsidies to more than 23 lakh eligible beneficiaries under the gas cylinder refill scheme. The assistance covered eligible Ladli Behna beneficiaries in the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana category as well as the eligible non-Ujjwala category. The subsidy was calculated at ₹450 per refill for two months, according to the information provided about the programme.
Dr Yadav said the state government had provided ₹1,600 crore in gas refill subsidies to women over three years.
The transfer formed part of the wider programme held in Umaria, which also covered development projects and announcements concerning public services and local infrastructure.
Government’s Statements on Women’s Welfare and Empowerment
Addressing the gathering, Dr Yadav said the state government was committed to the welfare and empowerment of women, who constitute half of the population. He also referred to women’s participation in administration, stating that women were serving as district collectors in one-fourth of the state’s districts. He said the divisional commissioner and collector in Umaria were also women.
The Chief Minister contrasted the government’s current allocation for women’s welfare with previous Congress governments. He stated that the Women and Child Development Department had a budget of only ₹350 crore under Congress governments, while his government had made a provision of ₹47,000 crore for women’s welfare. He further claimed that Congress governments had spent only ₹25,500 crore on women over 55 years.
Dr Yadav also said that 65 lakh women in Madhya Pradesh were associated with self-help groups and were gaining employment and financial strength. According to him, 25% of these women were Lakhpati Didis. He added that the state government was providing an additional ₹5,000 in wage assistance to women working in employment-based industries. These figures and comparisons were statements made by the Chief Minister during the programme.
Development Projects and Announcements for Umaria
The event included the inauguration and foundation-laying of 136 development works in Umaria district, with a combined stated cost of ₹144 crore. These comprised 68 completed works costing ₹87 crore and 68 works costing ₹57 crore for which foundation stones were laid. The projects included works in the Bandhavgarh and Manpur assembly constituencies.
The Chief Minister also made several announcements in response to requests from local public representatives:
- A Sandipani school would be established in Umaria.

Dr Yadav said the Sleemanabad Tunnel would benefit Umaria and neighbouring districts and referred to the availability of adequate irrigation water.
He also said the government had introduced a homestay scheme to promote tourism. Tribal residents were encouraged to develop well-equipped homestays for tourists, for which the government would provide grants of up to ₹3 lakh.
Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Public Assistance
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s emphasis on dairy farming and animal husbandry to encourage milk production. He referred to the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana, under which special subsidies were provided for establishing dairy businesses. According to his statement, purchasing 25 cows could qualify beneficiaries for a subsidy of up to ₹10 lakh. Dr Yadav also referred to the expansion of the state’s cheetah population, the introduction of buffaloes from Assam into Kanha National Park and the government’s responsibility to protect forests and wildlife. He said that if a person died in an elephant attack in Bandhavgarh National Park, the deceased’s nearest family member would receive compensation of ₹25 lakh.
Other assistance measures mentioned by the Chief Minister included air ambulance services for poor and needy people, an incentive of ₹25,000 under the Rahveer Yojana for those providing assistance, and free treatment worth up to ₹5 lakh for eligible Ayushman cardholders. Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister and Umaria district in-charge Nagar Singh Chauhan said that women, poor families, farmers and young people in the district were benefiting from various schemes under Dr Yadav’s leadership. He also referred to solar pumps and PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi assistance for farmers during the state’s Kisan Kalyan Year.
Additional Announcements on Welfare and Regional Development

The programme brought together financial transfers, development projects and announcements concerning healthcare, agriculture, tourism and local administration.
What Women Left Out of the Scheme Should Know

Minister Narendra Shivaji Patel’s statement indicates that officials have been asked to assess the number of women excluded from the scheme, but no application date has been announced.
