Jammu and Kashmir Phase 3 Elections Highlights
- Voting in Jammu and Kashmir Phase 3 took place for the remaining 40 ACs on 1st October, 2024.
- Despite the increase in the number of ACs from 83 to 90 (from 2014 to 2024), and around 170 incidents reported in the past during elections (87 on the polling day), this year’s elections have been smooth & streamlined with no major law and order incident reported.
- Webcasting was in place across 90 ACs (100% polling stations) to maintain transparency, as compared to 20% during the 2014 elections.
- Approximately there has been a significant increase of 23% in the electorate size from 2014 to 2024.
- There has been an increase of 7% in the number of candidates contesting the elections from 2014 to 2024.
- In order to strengthen democracy in every corner of the country, Polling Stations have been set up near the Line of Control (LoC) and near international borders in order to facilitate the remote areas. According to the official Press Release of Election Commission of India, dated 01st October 2024, the phase 3 of the elections recorded an approximate voter turnout of 69.65% as of 11:45 PM on 1st October. The district wise voter turnout percentage is briefed as follows:
- District Bandipora: 67.68% (3 ACs).
- District Baramulla: 61.03% (7 ACs).
- District Jammu: 71.40% (11 ACs).
- District Kathua: 73.34% (6 ACs).
- District Kupwara: 66.79% (6 ACs).
- District Samba: 75.88% (3 ACs).
- District Udhampur: 76.09% (4 ACs).

- The phase 3 and final elections in Jammu and Kashmir concluded on 01st October 2024 very peacefully.
- The elections were conducted across 40 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) spread across 7 districts and 5060 polling stations.
