Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj Resolves Drainage Crisis of Gurthali Village of Jind in Phase 2
SHARE

Gurthali village, located in the Narwana tehsil of Jind district, Haryana, faced a severe long-term infrastructural crisis due to the lack of a permanent drainage mechanism for its wastewater pond. During the monsoon and rainy periods, the pond consistently overflowed, spreading contaminated wastewater into adjacent agricultural fields, animal grazing areas, and residential surroundings.

The lack of proper infrastructure caused several documented problems in the village:

  • Agricultural Destruction: The overflowing wastewater regularly inundated neighboring crop fields, causing extensive damage to agricultural yields.
  • Livestock Disease Outbreaks: Contaminated water frequently mixed with the separate clean water pond designated for livestock bathing and consumption. This led to widespread skin diseases among animals and reduced milk production.
  • Public Health Risks: The stagnant wastewater created breeding grounds for mosquitoes and flies. Changes in wind direction blew foul odors directly into the residential areas, causing skin conditions and persistent physical discomfort to the inhabitants.
  • Fatal Accidents: Due to the unsafe condition of the overflowing pond area, two young children from the village, aged approximately five to seven years, had drowned.

The current village sarpanch, who is 27 years old, stated that the crisis dates back further than his birth, remaining unaddressed for over 20 years. The existing concrete water tank built for the village was too small to accommodate the volume of wastewater generated by the population.

Failure Of Administrative Interventions And Recourse To Phase 2 Campaign

The residents and the Gram Panchayat of Gurthali village undertook multiple efforts over several years to seek administrative assistance. The current sarpanch, who has been in office for three to three and a half years, along with former panchayat members, made multiple visits to state administrative officers and various ministers.

The political history of the region includes prominent leadership positions:

  • The Narwana constituency, which encompasses Gurthali village, has historically been a significant stronghold for regional political leaders, including former Chief Ministers.
  • A prominent local leader functions as the current chairman of the Grain Market (Mandi).
  • Despite these representations, past administrative requests resulted only in verbal assurances, leaving the drainage problem unresolved.

During previous heavy rains and flooding in the Narwana region, the village panchayat observed the execution of drainage pipe installations by a socio-spiritual organization in nearby villages such as Smalpur and Bakhewala.

Motivated by these successfully executed interventions, the Gram Panchayat of Gurthali formally decided to approach the ongoing Kisan Mazdoor Bachao Abhiyan (Save Farmer Labourer Campaign) Phase 2. On June 16, at 3:00 PM, a delegation led by the village sarpanch visited the Dhanana Dham Ashram to submit a formal written petition to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj.

Immediate Technical Survey Utilising Drones And Google Map Technology

Upon receiving the request, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj immediately issued directives to a dedicated technical survey team to assess the site conditions in Gurthali village.

Within approximately one hour of submitting the request—while the village representatives were still en route back to the village and had just crossed Jind—the survey team contacted the sarpanch to coordinate the immediate site inspection.

The survey team utilized drone cameras and Google Map data to map the topography and calculate the exact physical distance between the wastewater pond and the nearest functional public drainage canal (drain).

The technical evaluation established the following parameters:

  • The precise physical distance from the wastewater pond to the drainage canal measured 767 meters, which equates to approximately 2,500 feet.
  • Due to the large volume of wastewater, the engineers determined that a single pipe line would be structurally insufficient, necessitating the installation of two parallel pipelines.
  • The requirement for two parallel lines brought the total structural pipe requirement to 5,000 feet of 8-inch diameter piping.
  • To pump the water across the 767-meter distance, the team calculated a requirement for two high-capacity 10 Horsepower (HP) electric motor pumps.

The Gram Panchayat expressed complete satisfaction with the precision of the technical survey.

Infrastructure Material Allocation And Deployment Specifications

Following the technical verification, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj officially sanctioned the immediate release of the entire required structural inventory. Within 32 hours of the initial petition, a convoy consisting of transport trucks and tractors arrived at Gurthali village to deliver the machinery and pipeline materials.

Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj directed the comprehensive allocation of infrastructural materials under the dual banners of Kisan Mazdoor Bachao Abhiyan Phase 2 and Pashu Dhan Bachao Shuddhi Jal Pilao Abhiyan (Save Livestock Provide Pure Water Campaign):

Summary Of Technical Infrastructure Items Distributed

4Engineering Assembly KitsNuts, Bolts, Plates, Joints, Band, PVC AdhesivesComprehensive Installation Set (Delivered)
5Manufacturing StandardCrompton / Kirloskar QualityCertified High-Grade Industrial Standards

The technical team delivered the pipeline inventory to the Gram Panchayat along with explicit implementation instructions.

The village authorities were directed to excavate trenches and execute the physical burial of the 8-inch pipelines. The assembly instructions require the panchayat to run a water pressure test through the connected pipes prior to filling the trenches with soil to detect any structural leaks in the joints. The installation includes the placement of specialized air valves at fixed intervals of 10 to 12 killa (acres) length to regulate line pressure. The technical team informed the panchayat that as soon as the underground pipeline installation is completed, the survey team will conduct a secondary physical inspection.

Upon verifying the correct depth and structural alignment of the pipes, the two 10 HP Crompton or Kirloskar electric motors will be formally handed over for final integration.

Public Reception At Gurthali Bus Stand And Community Celebration

The arrival of the heavy vehicles carrying the pipeline infrastructure at the Gurthali bus stand triggered a large gathering of local residents. The sarpanch had received official confirmation of the material dispatch at 6:20 AM, allowing the village council time to organize a formal reception. A significant number of community members, including representatives from the local Sikh society, assembled at the village entrance.

Farmers driving their agricultural tractors formed a coordinated convoy to escort the transport vehicles into the main residential area.

The village residents walked barefoot alongside the vehicles to show respect, presenting floral garlands to the visiting technical assembly team. The procession advanced directly to the central village square (Chaupal). To celebrate the swift execution of the project, the village council organized the preparation of traditional sweets (Laddus), which volunteers distributed across every household in Gurthali.

During the community gathering, an 80-year-old village elder named Surajbhan stated that despite decades of administrative negligence by elected officials, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj provided complete structural relief within 32 hours without demanding any financial contribution or tax from the village. The local residents expressed that the community would maintain long-term gratitude for the resolution of this crisis.

Complete Elimination Of Waterlogging And Restoration Of Rural Economy

Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj provided the 5,000-foot parallel pipeline infrastructure and pumping units to permanently eliminate the systemic drainage crisis of Gurthali village. The underground integration of these industrial-grade 8-inch pipelines ensures that the domestic wastewater and seasonal rainwater accumulation will no longer overflow into public paths, residential structures, or agricultural zones. Instead, the high-capacity pumping system will direct the entire effluent load straight into the main regional public drainage canal.

This infrastructural change will systematically reclaim hectares of previously waterlogged agricultural land, allowing farmers to resume regular crop cultivation. The elimination of stagnant water pools will directly suppress the localized breeding cycles of mosquitoes and flies, significantly reducing the incidence of vector-borne illnesses and dermatological infections among the population.

Furthermore, the segregation of contaminated waste ensures the permanent cleanliness of the livestock ponds, protecting the health of the local dairy cattle and stabilizing the foundational agricultural economy of the region.
