Casualties and Government Ex Gratia

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu told reporters during a news conference at the Real Time Governance System (RTGS) centre in Amaravati, that there had been five cyclone related deaths. Three people in Visakhapatnam had died after falling from heavy branches and power poles. Two others died from electrocution after power lines fell. The chief minister expressed his condolences to those affected and approved of an ex-gratia payment of ₹5 lakh for each family affected.

Agricultural Inundation and Grid Failures

The cyclone caused major damage along the north and central coasts. The cyclone disrupted more than 25 lakh electricity connections and knocked down over 220 large trees onto main roads. Around 6,000 people were deployed to clear the fallen trees and debris.

Naidu has asked Union Home Minister Amit Shah to send an inter-ministerial Central team to assess the damage caused by the cyclone. Initial reports show that floods submerged 70,900 hectares of paddy fields and damaged 10,450 hectares of horticulture crops. Around 180 houses have suffered damage, mainly in Konaseema.

Agricultural Inundation and Grid Failures

Large scale preventative action meant cyclone deaths were kept to a minimum. Nearly 57,000 people were evacuated by the Andhra Pradesh Government with 609 schools turned into shelters to house those impacted. Over 17,000 young volunteers were mobilised. Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan asked party members to assist with relief operations.

Odisha also took large scale action with over 30,000 people evacuated from vulnerable areas in the south of the state into 2037 shelters. Odisha Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said Malkangiri was the most at-risk area. All 19,143 registered fishing boats had safely returned to shore.

Extreme Rainfall and Flash Flood Alerts

Both states received heavy rainfall, with Kasimkota in Anakapalli district and Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram recording 263 mm each. In southern Odisha, Mahendragarh in Gajapati received nearly 250 mm of rain. The weather office issued Moderate to High flash flood alerts for 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh. Rain is expected to continue across West Bengal and Telangana throughout the week.

The severe cyclonic storm “Arnab” over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal, moved very slowly north-northwestwards with the speed of 7 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered at 1430 hrs IST of today, the 28th October, over the same region… pic.twitter.com/OAr8wtop6W

Transit Paralysis Across Road, Rail, and Air

Transport was disrupted across the region. Over 55 flights were cancelled across Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada airports, including international routes to Abu Dhabi and Bangkok. Authorities have diverted flights to Bhubaneswar from Hyderabad and Chennai to Raipur. Southern Railways has cancelled or diverted over 22 trains. As a precaution, schools in four southern districts of Jharkhand have also been ordered to close.

The Fragility of Life

The devastation caused by cyclone Arnab in Andhra Pradesh has claimed 5 lives and submerged large areas of crop land, this reminds humans of their fragility. We lose months of hard work in seconds and people lose their loved ones. But have we ever wondered why nature has become so destructive? Why can’t we be fully protected from disasters?

Jagatguru Tatvdarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj tells us that this world (Kaal Brahm) is temporary and everything here is governed by karma. We can never truly feel safe in this world but our true protection is in Satlok.

Can we ever feel safe from the cycle of life, death and suffering with worldly solutions? Real protection is only obtained through real worship:

Next Article New Delhi: To give a major financial relief to Central Government employees and pensioners before the festive season, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for them. The hike has increased the DA rate to 63% from the current 60%. This will provide huge relief to more than 1.17 crore people, including nearly 48.54 lakh central government employees and 68.71 lakh pensioners as the revised rate will come into effect from July 1, 2026. Key Highlights of the DA Hike Parameter Details Hike Percentage 3% increase over existing rate New DA / DR Rate 63% of basic pay/pension (up from 60%) Effective Date July 1, 2026 (eligible for arrears) Beneficiaries 48.54 lakh employees & 68.71 lakh pensioners Total Coverage Over 1.17 crore individuals Total Beneficiaries More than 1.17 Crore Arrears from July 1 As the DA hike comes into effect from July 1, employees and pensioners will get salary arrears for July, August and September. The salary for October month shall also be credited. The Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) rates are periodically adjusted in line with the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission. These revisions take into account changes in the cost of living over the preceding 12 months, measured through the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW). This will ensure that the employees’ salaries are adjusted every six months to protect their real income from fluctuations in commodity prices. Effect on National Exchequer The DA and DR hike will add several thousand crores to the national exchequer. However, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said while announcing the Cabinet decision that the hike “reflects the government’s sustained efforts to protect the interests of public sector employees and our elder citizens”. First Hike- Effective from January 1. (Announced in March) Second Hike- Effective from July 1. (Usually cleared in September/October) The first hike was done in 2026 increasing DA to 60%. And now, another 3 percent is done in the second half of the year. What is the difference between DA and DR? DA (Dearness Allowance): Allowance for employees who are currently working as a central government employee. It is calculated as a fixed percentage of their basic salary to compensate them for inflation in urban and rural areas. DR (Dearness Relief) : Allowance for pensioners and family pensioners for Central Government. It is added to their basic pension to compensate them for rising medical and household costs. It is calculated in the same way as DA using the AICPI-IW. The increase in terms of percentage is the same. Beyond Material Relief: Seeking Lasting Security Although the government's decision to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) offers immediate financial relief to millions, an important question remains: can these short-term monetary benefits ensure long-term security and peace of mind? In the constant pursuit of material comfort and a better lifestyle, have we ever paused to reflect on why scarcity, inflation, and deterioration continue to persist in the world despite our endless efforts to improve our living conditions? The materialistic world of 21 universes governed by Kaal Brahm, of which Earth is a small part, is temporary and always suffers from lack. Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj has been teaching us that true and everlasting prosperity can be found only in Satlok, the immortal abode where souls are free from hunger, inflation, and worldly anxieties. Instead of wasting our precious human life on temporary material gains, we should instead get involved with real spiritual devotion based on scriptural knowledge. Today, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj is the only one holding the path to true devotion to Supreme God Kabir. https://youtu.be/t_YuP4dfhhI?si=H84jABdONambZV1e One can reach to the knowledge shared by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj through His social media platforms: Website: www.jagatgururampalji.org YouTube: Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj Facebook: Spiritual Leader Saint Rampal Ji ‘X’: @SaintRampalJiM FAQs on Dearness Allowance Who will benefit from the Union Cabinet's DA hike? More than 1.17 crore people are expected to be benefitted. When will I get the increased salary? The increased DA/DR will be included in your next salary along with 3 months arrears (July, August & September 2026). How much will my salary increase? For a basic salary of 20,000, the hike will be of INR 600. The DA will increase from 12,000 to 12,600. It will also result in INR 1800 allowances for three months. 3% DA and DR Hike for Central Government Employees and Pensioners Approved by Cabinet
