- On Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, the Union Cabinet chaired by Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a rail-cum-road project under the Ministry of Railways over River Ganga.
- Anticipated to be an engineering marvel, the project comprises a six-lane highway in the upper deck and a four-line railway track in the lower deck, is estimated to cost around INR 2642 crores.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also appreciated the project’s value in a recent post made on the social media platform X.
- The multi-tracking project eases the load on the existing Malviya rail-cum-road bridge over Ganga river, constructed 137 years ago. This project will connect the Varanasi – Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction route to boost overall connectivity and transportation of goods, like coal, cement, and food grains.
- The project is a testament to PM Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar’ Bharat and PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi modal connectivity spanning across two districts, Varanasi and Chandauli of Uttar Pradesh.
- With Varanasi a tourism hub and a junction to connect various parts of the nation, the project is expected to boost overall nation’s growth. Along with its socio-economic benefits, a freight of 27.83 MTPA is expected on the proposed route.
- Railways, being an eco-friendly project, is all set to reduce the CO2 emissions by 149 crore kg, equivalent to plantation of 6 crore trees.
- The project is also expected to generate employment of approximately 10 lakh human-days during its development, and is expected to complete in four years.
- Varanasi is known for its spiritual and cultural heritage, and is significant to the nation in various terms. Many renowned scholars hailed from its holy land, including Kabir Saheb Who appeared by Himself approximately 600 years ago.
- Initially considered as a normal human being, Kabir Saheb manifested through His divine acts and true spiritual knowledge that He is indeed the creator of the entire universe.
- Kabir Saheb appeared by Himself, He did not take birth from a mother’s womb, as described in one of God’s identities in holy Rigveda Mandal 9 Sukt 1 Mantra 8-9.
- Upon His departure, He ascended to Satlok (the everlasting abode) with his complete body, leaving only flowers behind. Both His muslim and hindu devotees, of that period, were a testament to brotherhood. One can witness both Samadhi and Mazhaar at the place of His departure at Maghar side by side, which can still be seen today.
- This evidence proves that He is indeed the Supreme God, Who always promoted brotherhood and unity. He resides in Satlok where everything is immortal and pure. Even the water of the Ganga, which is considered the holiest, is a product of Satlok’s creation.
