Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj Provides Flood Relief Equipment to Petwar Village Under Phase 2 Initiative

Petwar, Hansi, Haryana: Farmers and residents of Petwar village in Narnaund tehsil of Hansi district have received floodwater drainage equipment under a relief initiative led by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. The equipment is intended to address recurring rainwater waterlogging that has reportedly affected agricultural fields and residential habitations in the village for the past 10 to 15 years.

The material provided includes eight 10-HP electric motors, 4,500 feet of eight-inch PVC pipeline, starter panels, electrical cables, valves and other technical accessories. According to information provided by local representatives, the infrastructure has been supplied under the Save Farmers and Labourers Campaign Phase 2, Pure Drinking Water Service Campaign and Save Livestock Feed Pure Water Campaign.

Waterlogging Has Affected 200 Acres of Farmland

Petwar has reportedly experienced severe waterlogging following seasonal rainfall, with accumulated water reaching depths of approximately four to five feet across agricultural fields and access routes to residential habitations known locally as Dhanis.

According to local accounts, the problem has persisted for between 10 and 15 years. Standing water has submerged crops and reportedly caused them to rot completely. Prolonged moisture in the soil has also made it difficult for farmers to prepare their fields for the next agricultural cycle.

Farmers reportedly faced particular difficulty sowing wheat on time after the monsoon season. According to local representatives, repeated crop losses and delays in cultivation contributed to financial difficulties and agricultural debt for some families, with debts reportedly continuing for periods of up to 20 years.

The waterlogging problem reportedly affected around 200 acres of agricultural land, making drainage a significant concern for the farming community.

Floodwater Disrupted Village Connectivity and Education

The impact of waterlogging extended beyond agricultural fields. Deep water reportedly accumulated along roads and pathways leading to residential Dhanis, restricting movement for villagers.

Children travelling to school were particularly affected, as the flooded routes made walking or travelling through the affected areas difficult and potentially hazardous.

Farmers also attempted to address the problem themselves by using agricultural motors to pump water from their fields. However, according to the information provided by residents, prolonged periods of rainfall lasting five to seven hours sometimes caused these motors and temporary electrical connections to become submerged.

Farmers Faced Risks While Operating Pumps

The attempts to remove water using domestic agricultural equipment reportedly created additional safety concerns.

When electric motors became submerged, farmers had to manually retrieve the equipment from flooded fields. Local representatives said this exposed farmers to potentially dangerous conditions, including encounters with venomous snakes that could be present in the standing water.

Residents also reportedly faced delays when seeking assistance through government infrastructure channels. According to local accounts, replacing a damaged electrical transformer could take as long as 15 days. In some cases, government-provided equipment was reportedly reclaimed before the waterlogging problem had been completely resolved.

Gram Panchayat Delegation Approaches Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj

Seeking a more permanent solution, a delegation of approximately 10 to 15 representatives from the Gram Panchayat of Petwar reportedly approached Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj with a formal request for assistance.

Upon receiving the petition, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj ordered a survey team to visit Petwar. According to the information provided, the team conducted its field inspection the following day.

The survey covered approximately 200 acres of affected agricultural land, residential Dhanis and potential routes through which accumulated water could be evacuated from the area.

Technical Survey Identifies Drainage Requirements

Following the ground assessment, the survey team reportedly determined that the affected area required 4,500 feet of eight-inch PVC pipeline and eight 10-HP electric motors for the proposed drainage operation.

The technical findings were subsequently presented to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. He approved the requirements and arranged for the complete equipment package to be delivered to Petwar.

According to local representatives, the process—from submission of the initial request and field survey to the arrival of the equipment at the village—was completed within approximately 20 to 36 hours.

The pipeline network consists of 4,500 feet of eight-inch PVC pipe, supplied in 20-foot sectional pieces. The equipment package also includes air valves and sluice valves intended to assist with pressure and flow management.

Additional components include iron bend pipes, reducers, eight PVC plates or “suitcases,” connector assemblies, stainless-steel nuts and bolts and solvent for joining PVC sections.

According to the supplied information, the package was designed to include the fittings required for installation rather than providing only the principal pumping equipment.

Villagers Welcome the Relief Material

When the supply convoy reached the entrance of Petwar village, local residents reportedly gathered to welcome the equipment.

A Mangalacharan ceremony was conducted, with villagers showering flower petals and presenting floral garlands before taking delivery of the materials.

The residents and Gram Panchayat representatives subsequently carried out a physical verification of the supplied equipment, including all eight 10-HP motors, the 4,500 feet of PVC pipeline and the accompanying electrical and installation hardware.

Intended Impact on Farmers and Rural Livelihoods

The drainage system is intended to pump accumulated rainwater out of approximately 200 acres of agricultural fields.

According to the project information, removing four to five feet of standing water is expected to help protect remaining crops from prolonged submergence and allow affected fields to recover for subsequent cultivation.

Improved drainage could also restore access routes around residential Dhanis, making travel easier for villagers and enabling children to use routes to school more safely.

The agricultural impact extends beyond landowners. Farming activities provide employment to landless agricultural laborers, while crops also contribute to the availability of green fodder for livestock. Consequently, restoring affected farmland could have implications for several parts of the village’s rural economy.

Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj’s Other Welfare Initiatives

According to information supplied by representatives of the initiative, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj also provides agricultural support to small farmers, including free fertilizers, seeds and agricultural chemicals for farmers owning up to 2.5 acres of land.

His broader Annapurna Campaign is described as providing assistance to economically disadvantaged families through initiatives including house construction, educational support for needy children, assistance with marriages of underprivileged women and free medical assistance.

Local representatives further state that Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj’s relief initiatives have been implemented in more than 100 villages affected by water-related difficulties.

Project Moves Toward Floodwater Management

With the equipment delivered to the Gram Panchayat, Petwar’s proposed drainage response has moved from survey and material allocation toward implementation.

The eight 10-HP motors and 4,500 feet of eight-inch pipeline are intended to provide the village with dedicated equipment for removing accumulated rainwater from agricultural and residential areas.
