Talakaur Village Flood Solution: 60-Year Waterlogging Problem Resolved with Support of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj

Yamunanagar, Haryana – For the farmers of Talakaur village in Yamunanagar district, the monsoon season had long been a source of trouble rather than relief. For nearly six decades, every heavy rainfall filled the fields with water, making farming almost impossible. In many cases, water accumulated up to 4–5 feet in the fields and remained there for months.

As a result, crops that farmers had worked hard to grow were destroyed, and their financial condition continued to deteriorate. Over the years, villagers approached government offices many times and appealed to leaders and officials, but a permanent solution never materialized. Gradually, many farmers began to believe that this problem might never be solved.

An Area Suffering from Waterlogging for Over 60 Years

Every year during the rainy season, around 100 to 150 acres of land in Talakaur village would get submerged. Because the fields were located at a lower level and there was no proper drainage system, the water stayed there for a long time.

Farmers say they sometimes had to sow crops two or even three times in a single season, but sudden rains and waterlogging would destroy everything. Crops like paddy, sugarcane, and wheat were frequently ruined by standing water.

This continuous loss affected farmers both mentally and financially. Some families even faced the possibility of selling their ancestral land. According to village elders, the problem had persisted for so long that several generations had struggled with it.

A Ray of Hope When Government Efforts Failed

The village sarpanch and farmers repeatedly submitted applications to the administration and met various officials and leaders. However, they received only assurances and no concrete action due to procedural delays.

When all efforts seemed unsuccessful, villagers learned about the flood-relief initiatives being carried out by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. This brought a new sense of hope among the residents that their long-standing problem might finally be solved.

Understanding the seriousness of the situation, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj decided to provide immediate support. Within just six days, relief materials were delivered to the village, including:

  • Approximately 6500 feet of 8-inch pipeline
  • Two high-capacity 10HP motors with starters
  • All necessary equipment required to install and operate the pipeline system

This system was designed to drain the accumulated water from the fields directly into the Chitang River, marking a major step toward solving the decades-old problem.

One Solution with Two Major Benefits

This pipeline and motor arrangement provides not only drainage but also irrigation benefits. During the rainy season, excess water from the fields can be pumped directly into the Chitang River. When irrigation is needed, farmers can use the same system to lift water from the river to irrigate higher fields.

Showing great foresight, villagers also buried nearly 3000 feet of pipeline underground, ensuring the system functions smoothly for many years.

Greenery Returns to Previously Submerged Land

After the installation of this system, the situation in the village has changed dramatically. Land that once remained submerged for years is now producing crops again.

Fields are now flourishing with wheat, mustard, and other crops, bringing visible happiness to farmers who can finally cultivate their land again. According to villagers, the system has directly benefited nearly 300 to 350 acres of farmland, restoring productivity to the region.

Hope Returns to Farmers’ Lives

Farmers say this assistance has brought them more than relief—it has given them a new beginning. Where floods and waterlogging once destroyed crops every year, farmers can now sow crops on time and expect good yields.

Many villagers expressed emotional gratitude, saying that a problem troubling them for generations has finally been resolved.

Part of the Annapurna Muhim Relief Initiative

The assistance provided to Talakaur village is part of the “Annapurna Muhim”, a large-scale humanitarian initiative led by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj.

Through this campaign, flood-affected regions are receiving support such as pipelines, motors, and other resources to create sustainable solutions. The goal is not just temporary relief but long-term systems that protect farmers’ crops and strengthen their livelihoods.
