Karol Bagh Building Collapse: On the morning of 18th September 2024, at approximately 9 AM, a building in Karol Bagh, Delhi collapsed, causing panic in the surrounding area. The officials from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) rushed to the spot as soon as they were informed about the incident. Currently four people are dead as per the search and rescue operations. Karol Bagh Building Collapse: What happened in Karol Bagh?
- A two-storey building (number 16/33) in the Bapa Nagar area of Karol Bagh Zone collapsed in the morning around 9 AM of 18th September, 2024.
- The area of the plot was in between 25-30 Sqm.
- As per MCD, teams of DFS, NDRF, and MCD rushed to the site after receiving the information.
- The DFS received the information of the incident at around 9:10 AM, as per Atul Garg, the Director of Delhi Fire Services (DFS).
- DFS officials along with five tenders rushed to the site after getting the information.
- MCD said the reason for the collapse of the building is still not determined. The department further clarified that the building was not identified as dangerous in a pre-monsoon survey done by the Maintenance Department.
- Statement from Deputy Commissioner of Police “Information about the collapse of a building was received at Prasad Nagar Police Station. A two-storey structure on a plot of around 25 square yards collapsed.”

Karol Bagh Building Collapse: Casualties
- After the building collapse, teams of DFS, NDRF along with MCD arrived at the building site as soon as information was conveyed to them.
- As per the reports, 3 people lost their lives and 14 people were injured.
- As soon as the people were rescued, the people were shifted to RML Hospital, Delhi.
- Delhi’s newly appointed Chief Minister Atishi visited the hospital to meet the ones affected by the incident and announced a compensation for them.
Karol Bagh Building Collapse: AAP CM Atishi Announces 10 Lakh Compensation
- On witnessing the magnitude of the loss to life and property for the persons affected by the collapse, Delhi’s newly appointed CM Atishi announced compensation.
- A compensation of INR 10 lakh was announced for the families affected by the building collapse.
- CM Atishi also urged the people to inform and report about any suspected or unsafe building having construction issues.
Karol Bagh Building Collapse: BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj blames the AAP
- BJP MP Bansuri blamed the Aam Aadmi Party Government for the tragic incident.
- She was in Karol Bagh when the incident happened. She went to the hospital to meet the affected families and then addressed the media.
- She blamed the government, stating “Delhi Government needs to take cognisance of structures that are in bad state”
