At the beginning of September, torrential rains caused widespread devastation across several regions of Haryana. For Dhad village, the dates of 3rd and 9th September were nothing short of a nightmare. The relentless downpour submerged the entire agricultural land of the village. Within no time, the crops representing a year’s hard work of the farmers were lost to floodwaters.
The five to six feet of standing water in the fields not only destroyed the standing crop but also cast serious uncertainty over sowing for the upcoming Rabi season. Villagers and the panchayat appealed to the local administration for help, but the slow pace of the government machinery and lack of resources pushed farmers to the brink of suicide. The farmers neither had the means to drain the water nor received any concrete assurance from the government.

When darkness prevailed on all sides, the panchayat of Dhad village decided to seek help from Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj at the Barwala office. Villagers stated that they had learned about the assistance earlier provided by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj in Gurana and Bedad villages. With this hope, representatives of the panchayat reached Barwala.
Understanding the severe circumstances of the village and the pain of the farmers, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj issued immediate orders to send relief without any delay. Through Annapurna Muhim, He promptly dispatched four powerful motors along with a large quantity of pipes to the village. Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj expanded the relief operation in two phases, in accordance with the village’s needs. In the first phase, four motors and 500 feet (about 152 metres) of pipeline were sent, initiating water drainage. As the water level began to recede, some low lying areas still retained water due to soil composition.
Recognising this issue, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, in the second phase, sent two more powerful motors, including one submersible and another high capacity motor, along with 6,500 feet (about 1,981 metres) of eight inch pipeline. Altogether, a network of more than 7,000 feet (about 2,134 metres) of pipes ensured that every last drop of water was drained from the fields.
Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj personally emphasised that regardless of the number of resources required, wheat sowing must be completed on time so that no family is forced to sleep hungry.

Today, the landscape of Dhad village has completely transformed. Where only floodwater was visible a month and a half ago, tender wheat plants have now emerged through the soil. Sowing has been completed on one hundred percent of the 1,500 acres of affected land.
This remarkable transformation was achieved within just 45 to 50 days under the guidance of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. Farmers are now using the same pipes and motors, once sent to drain their fields, for the first irrigation of the wheat crop. The satisfaction visible on the faces of young and elderly farmers working in the fields with tractors stands as testimony to the success of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj’s service efforts.
The Humanitarian Face of Annapurna Muhim: A New Home for a Widow
The spirit of service shown by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj was not limited to agriculture alone. During the floods, the house of an extremely poor family in Dhad village collapsed. The head of the family was a widow whose husband had already passed away. With no shelter, the woman and her family were left homeless and struggling even for daily food.
As soon as this information reached Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, He ordered the construction of a permanent house for the woman under Annapurna Muhim. Today, she is living under a secure roof. Villagers state that where the government merely came for photographs and left, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj practised true religion by building a house on the ground and saving crops.

The sarpanch admitted that if motors and pipes had not arrived on time from Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, water would not have been drained even after two years, and the farmers would have sunk deep into debt.
Elders sitting at the village bus stand remarked that Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj demonstrated faster action than the government itself. They stated that in their lifetime, they had never witnessed such floods nor such selfless service. According to the villagers, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj not only saved their crops but also protected the dignity and prosperity of the entire village.
