Gherai village, located in Hisar district of Haryana, had been suffering for the past two and a half decades from a natural and administrative tragedy that completely disrupted everyday life. For nearly 25 years, thousands of acres of village land remained submerged under floodwater. As a result, agriculture came to a standstill and the very survival of villagers was pushed into crisis.
Amid this deep despair, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj took a historic step through Annapurna Muhim that not only made the land free from water but also restored green crops on 400 acres after a gap of 20 years.
A Historic Crisis and Failure of the Government System
For the farmers of Gherai, flooding was not a new problem but a deep wound spanning 25 years. According to villagers, nearly 2,000 acres of land had remained waterlogged for decades. The situation became so severe that around 20 to 25 families were forced to sell their ancestral land after losing their means of livelihood.

Despite official data and repeated assurances, the administration failed to provide any concrete solution. Villagers shared that even after decades of visiting government offices and pleading with officials, water was never drained from their fields. Due to constant waterlogging, the groundwater level rose so high that house floors began to sink, and there was a serious shortage of fodder for livestock.
An Appeal for Humanity at Barwala
When all avenues were exhausted, the residents of Gherai learned through social media about the humanitarian work being carried out by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. With renewed hope, a delegation of more than 100 villagers led by Sarpanch representative Sandeep reached Barwala.
They presented their 25 year old suffering before Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj and pleaded that if water was not removed from their fields, they would be completely ruined. Moved by this heartfelt appeal, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj took immediate action and instructed His service committee to begin relief work at a war footing.
Unprecedented Relief Under Annapurna Muhim
Under Annapurna Muhim, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj dispatched a massive convoy of resources to assist Gherai village. A fleet of 11 trucks and tractors arriving in the village left the residents astonished.
For this service, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj provided 25,000 feet (about 7,620 metres) of high quality 8 inch heavy duty pipes along with five large electric motors of 15 horsepower capacity. What made this assistance exceptional was that Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj did not send only machinery, but also all essential accessories such as starters, cables, clamps, PVC solution, and even the smallest nuts and bolts, ensuring farmers did not need to buy a single item from the market.
The total cost of this relief material ran into millions of rupees, all of which was provided completely free of charge and without taking any donation.

Remarkable Outcome: Crops Return After 20 Years
After the relief materials arrived, continuous drainage work was carried out day and night under the guidance of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. As a result, land that had not produced even a single grain for 20 years is now flourishing with wheat and mustard crops.

Farmers Satish and Joginder explained that in a specific area of the village known as Pakhwada, sowing became possible on 400 acres for the first time in two decades. Currently, sowing has been completed on 99 percent of the village’s land. Where 4 to 5 feet (about 1.2 to 1.5 metres) of water once stood and villagers had to improvise transport by tying plastic drums under charpoys, tractors are now moving freely and greenery has returned.
A Permanent and Scientific Drainage Solution
Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj did not provide only temporary relief but also ensured a permanent solution for the future. Villagers have decided to permanently bury the pipes provided by Him underground so that during heavy rainfall in the future, water can be immediately directed to drains and canals.
The 15 HP motors are now being used not only for flood relief but also to regulate groundwater levels after sowing. This permanent arrangement has removed farmers’ anxiety about future floods entirely.
Gratitude of Villagers and Social Impact
Village residents Sumit and Vinod emotionally shared that this help from Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj saved their collapsing homes. Earlier, children had stopped going to school due to flooding, and women faced extreme difficulty crossing waterlogged paths.
The way Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj revived the economy and daily life of an entire village without discrimination or self interest stands as a rare example of true philanthropy in modern times. Villagers stated that where power and administration failed, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj ensured the victory of humanity through His selfless service.
Today, every farmer and labourer in Gherai expresses deep gratitude to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, as He has ushered a new dawn of prosperity into their lives.
