A remarkable milestone has been achieved by Anantapur district police in Andhra Pradesh; they recovered 10,195 stolen or missing mobile phones, setting a record in India. The district cyber crime police succeeded in recovering more than 90 percent of lost mobiles. For which they are widely praised locally as well as outside the state. The police recovered the mobile phones worth Rs 20 crore so far with the help of the ‘Chatbot’ technology program.
What is Chatbot?
Chatbot is a computer program that stimulates a process of human conversation (either written or spoken) with an end user. It allows humans to interact with digital services as they are communicating with humans; modern chatbots use conversational AI techniques such as Natural Language Processing (NLP).
This chatbot service for mobile phone theft was launched in June 2022 by Anantapur police in Andhra Pradesh. The Anantapur police cybercrime department launched a WhatsApp Chatbot with the phone number #9440796812 to receive complaints about misplaced or stolen mobile phones directly without visiting police stations and filing an FIR.
