IIT JEE Advanced Updates: The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) on November 05, 2024 has issued certain eligibility criterias for candidates appearing for JEE (Advanced) 2025. However, there are various criterias but the most significant update is in the number of attempts, a candidate can attempt the JEE Advanced exam maximum of three times in three consecutive years.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced 2025 Exam
IIT JEE Advanced Updates: In order to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 exams, the candidates are required to mandatorily fulfil all the five criterias described below:
Criteria 1
IIT JEE Advanced Updates: The candidates shall be among the top 2,50,000 candidates (all categories) in B.E./B.Tech paper of JEE (Mains) 2025. The shortlisting of the candidates from different categories is done as follows:

Further, within all the above five categories, 5% reservation is available for PwD candidates. For the category-wise distribution of top 2,50,000 candidates, refer the table below:
Criteria 2
IIT JEE Advanced Updates: The candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. However, the relaxation of five years is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates born on or after October 1, 1995.
Criteria 3
IIT JEE Advanced Updates: A candidate is now allowed to take part in JEE Advanced examination at a maximum of three times in three consecutive years.
Criteria 4
IIT JEE Advanced Updates: Candidates must have first appeared in Class 12 or equivalent exam in the year 2023, 2024, 2025 with mandatory subjects including Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
The candidates appearing for class 12th examination are not eligible, however, there is an exception to this, if the results for the academic session 2021-22 is declared after on or after September 21st, 2022, then these candidates will become eligible, considering fulfilling all other criteria. But, if the results are declared by the board and the result of any candidate is withheld by the board because of some reasons, then that candidate is not eligible.
Criteria 5
- IIT JEE Advanced Updates: Candidates who have been admitted to an IIT in any academic program as listed in JoSSAA Business Rules 2024 or earlier, will not be considered eligible, irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the program or accepted an IIT seat online.
- However, because of non reporting of allotted seat online, withdrawing at the last moment, and had their seats cancelled before the last round, candidates can be termed as eligible.
- Candidates who are pursuing preparatory courses in any branch of IIT for the first time in 2024 are eligible.

There are no specific changes in the Syllabus as compared to last year. The JEE Advanced 2025 exam is expected to be scheduled in May 2025.
