What is Bharat Stage VI (BS VI)?
- Bharat Stage Emission Standards’ were brought in 2000 to control the vehicular emission.
- It will implemented from April 1, 2020.
- Mandates installing filters in vehicles to cut particulate matter from exhaust.
- Complying vehicles are less polluting due to less emission to toxic gases.
- Mandates on board diagnostics for vehicle maintenance.
- Vehicle makers must manufacture, sell and register only BS-VI (BS6) vehicles from April 1, 2020.
