A disturbing incident occurred in the early hours of 15th August 2024 (Independence Day) in Kolkata and that took the nation by surprise. Violence Erupts Amid Protest
- A mob of hundreds of assailants entered the premises forcefully and started creating havoc amid the ongoing peaceful protests.
- They vandalized everything around them as they entered the premises. They damaged the stage, furniture, fans, police vehicles and everything around them.
- Consequently, the mob of assistants moved towards the emergency building and manhandled it completely.
- They even injured various doctors there, peaceful protestors were forced to run away for their lives as a huge mob marched towards them to carry out destruction.
- The assailants were drunken goons who vandalized the barricades, pelted stones and overturned police vehicles as well.
- Police seemed to be helpless and were just a mere spectator watching the incident with their bare eyes.
- Various doctors, nurses and even the police had to run to flee as the situation was very intense.
Police Commissioner held “Malicious Media Campaign” responsible
- Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal held the false rumors regarding the case responsible for what is happening around and called it a “Malicious Media Campaign”.
- And he said that his team has done everything and is working dedicatedly towards the case.
- He said that they tried to convince the family but the rumors circulating in the media has been the main hindrance for the police to tackle.
- He further said they are waiting for scientific evidence and they can’t arrest a young PG guy just on the basis of rumors.
- Moreover, he said, the CBI is now doing the investigation and the police will support them in the best possible way.
