Bagru village, located in the Sonipat Tehsil of Sonipat district, Haryana, had been struggling with a severe and persistent waterlogging crisis for the past 4 to 5 years. Approximately 500 to 600 acres of fertile agricultural land remained submerged under 1.2 to 1.5 metres (4 to 5 feet) of deep water. This natural calamity resulted in the total destruction of crops, pushing farmers toward extreme financial distress and dire circumstances. The villagers reported that they approached the government approximately 20 times for assistance, yet no concrete solution or relief was provided at the administrative level. The farmers lacked even the basic funds required to purchase fodder for cattle or grain for their families.
The Appeal for Assistance to Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj
When the government machinery failed to provide relief, Sarpanch (Village Head) Praveen Kumar and other prominent members of the Bagru village council decided to seek help from Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj.
- A local resident, Atar Singh, was the first to inform the villagers about the possibility of receiving such aid.
- Under the leadership of the Sarpanch, a delegation visited the trust office in Barwala to submit a formal letter of request.
- This letter specifically requested technical equipment to drain the stagnant water.
- Initially, some individuals within the village mocked this move and expressed skepticism regarding the availability of the required pipes.
Details of the Relief Materials Provided
Upon accepting the request, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj immediately dispatched a massive convoy of relief materials to Bagru village. Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj provided the following resources:
- A total of 5 large electric motors (each with a capacity of 10 Horsepower).
- Motor Manufacturers: Kirloskar and Crompton.
- A total of 5,030 metres (16,500 feet) of 20-centimetre (8-inch) high-quality piping.
- Starters, cables, and all other necessary technical components required to operate the motors.
Drainage Process and Current Agricultural Status
The motors provided by Him worked day and night to pump out the immense volume of water accumulated in the fields.
- Currently, approximately 450 to 460 acres out of the 600 acres have been completely cleared of water.
- In the remaining 50 to 100 acres, where the water table was particularly high (locally known as ‘Chowa’), the water level is steadily receding.
- Following the drainage, farmers have completed the sowing of wheat, and the crops are now flourishing.
- In areas where the water was cleared later, farmers are preparing to sow sorghum, maize, bottle gourd, and other vegetables.
- To ensure a permanent solution to this problem, the villagers have installed the pipeline permanently underground along the roadside to allow direct water discharge into the main drain.
