Why Should We Actually Read Books?
You might think I might say, “because teachers say so” or “it improves your English”. But seriously, though, if you’re reading THIS article, your English might already be good. And I honestly don’t think your teachers told you to read this. Let’s take a look at why reading books might help you.
Firstly, it broadens your perspective, as you can see things from other people’s points of view. It might lessen arguments, you know, because when you’re reading a book, you’re looking through another person’s perspective.
Secondly, your memory gets better. When you read a book, especially without pictures, you mostly get a character description. So the whole time you’re reading the book, you’re imagining the character (hence, imagination improves too!). Also, you create a whole literal movie in your head while reading a book. Cool, right?
Thirdly, it’s kind of like a good escape from reality. Unlike binge-watching web series or doomscrolling, reading is better entertainment, because it’s like watching a movie WHILE having all the pros of “reading”.
Though there are many more points I could mention, I wouldn’t want to bore you to death. So let’s just move on.
Some Reasons People Don’t Read
There are some people who say “reading is for nerds” and stuff like that. But in my opinion, it’s not like that. You can read if you want to. Don’t let people control you. I’m not giving you a pep talk, or rather a pep read, so let’s move on to the actual reasons.
People with conditions like dyslexia or ADHD may find reading challenging. But with the right support and practice, they can still enjoy books.

You can overcome that stuff. When you grow and become mature, the severity of those decreases. Einstein was dyslexic, but he’s one of the smartest people ever. Aamir Khan is dyslexic, but look what he’s become today. And these people are knowledgeable, right?
When you’re initially starting to read, you might face a huge challenge trying to choose a book to read. Some people just give up. Don’t be one of those. And I don’t even think you are.
Another reason is that people have attention span problems. With all that doomscrolling, they are used to those 30-second videos, and might have a LOT of trouble trying to read 30+ minute books.
Book Genres: Find Your Match
If you don’t read books, you probably don’t know that just like movies, even books have genres. Let me list some of my personal favourites.
Fantasy
When you’re reading fantasy, you get to imagine so much, and it almost feels like you’re in a fantasyland. Some of the popular books in this genre are The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and The Hobbit.
Mystery/Detective
You get to solve the mysteries and crimes along with the detective characters. Improves your detective skills. Examples and my favourites are Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes.
Thriller
Very fast-paced, and meant to scare you. I can’t think of many examples, so one thriller book I like is The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.

Comedy (Satire)
A fun and enjoyable genre. You can actually read this genre when you’re in the starter phase of reading. My favourite is The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid series.
Are Books Really Your Best Friend?
This is kind of a 50/50, so let me give you the negatives and positives.
Yes, because:
They are always there when you need them, when you’re lonely, without having to call them.
They can’t judge you—so why judge them by their covers?
They introduce you to characters who feel like friends. So, books are basically a bridge to the characters who can be your friends.
You can keep revisiting them again and again if you read a lot of books.

No, because seriously:
You can’t really tell the characters to do something or vent on them.
They might make you disappointed because of the things that characters do, but you can’t even tell them that you’re disappointed!
They can’t hug you when you’re sad.
And of course, you can’t talk to them.
Will This Materialistic Knowledge Help You Post-Death?
One category that I missed talking about in the list mentioned above is spirituality books. Now these are the books that will give you spiritual enlightenment, help you distinguish between right and wrong, and what is the most important thing that you could do as a human being.

These books are a must-read. If you really want to see some drastic changes in our society and the way people behave. These kinds of books will help bring down the chaos, greed and suffering among mankind.
One of the books that I would like to recommend here is called Gyan Ganga. It is an amazing book that will help you to understand not only the purpose of human life, but also how we got stuck in this world ruled by Satan. This book will help you understand the way you could escape this jail.
Now, don’t get me wrong. This planet surely is beautiful, but it is a jail where we are stuck in the cycle of birth and death, and this wonderful book will help you to break that cycle. Gyan Ganga is written bySaint Rampal Ji Maharaj, who is the only enlightened saint in this whole universe. You could download your free copy from here
