- On Wednesday, 22nd January, 2025, 12 people lost their lives after being hit by Karnataka Express in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra.
- The incident happened around 5 PM after people jumped from Pushpak Express (Train number 12533) after hearing rumours of fire inside the train.
- As the people jumped off the Pushpak Express, they were being hit by Karnataka Express coming from the opposite end on the adjacent railway track.
- Ambulances and medical teams rushed to the accident site to take control of the situation.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wrote on twitter, expressing his grief over the incident.
- Many renowned political figures including Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and President Dropadi Murmu expressed their grief.
- Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announced an assistance of INR 5 lakh to the families of the deceased.
