Humans have always strived for improving their life and making it easier by building tools and technology. With the advent of every new technology, a lot changes for everyone around. What once took millennia to evolve shifted to centuries during the Industrial Revolution, then to mere decades with the rise of telecommunications. The internet shortened this timeline even further, with transformative shifts happening within years. Now, with the AI revolution, the world is evolving at an unprecedented speed, sometimes in a matter of months. Some argue that AI is the most significant invention since electricity.
This makes me wonder what future jobs look like. What will jobs look like in this rapidly changing landscape? Will humans work anymore or will machines take over?
Many experts claim that efficiencies of every role will increase multi fold. This increase in efficiency will enable humans to achieve productivity which was never seen, which ultimately would lead to a world which would have knowledge and products in abundance only limited by natural resources and time. The role of subject matter expertise and understanding nuances of any industry would become even more important.
Many claim that mundane manual work would not be required anymore as AI and robots will be able to do that. Data entry, data analysis, sales support, SEO, entry level marketing, basic accounting would all be done by AI software or bots. Even more creative roles such as coding, creative writing, graphic design and video generation would be taken up by AI.
While it’s challenging to predict exactly what the future holds, one thing is clear: the nature of work is evolving rapidly. In the coming decade, the workplace will look very different. Professionals must stay vigilant, continuously monitor emerging technologies, and focus on upskilling and relearning to meet the demands of this dynamic environment.
